Rhino unveiled the first half of their unique Varsity Match teamwear when Cambridge University’s men’s and women’s rugby union sides took delivery of their bespoke matchday kit earlier this week.

With Rhino, for the first time in the historic Varsity Match's history, a single brand is not only supplying teamwear to both sides, but will also be providing the matchday ball and training equipment.

Cambridge University’s former England Sevens star Charlie Amesbury, who also played for Bristol, Sale and Newcastle, said of the new kit: “My first memory of Rhino is of hitting the pads and, thankfully, never having to hit the scrummage machine – but I know the forwards used to love it. This is the first time I’ve worn Rhino kit though and what a step-up it’s been, it’s a truly professional standard.”

Amesbury's Cambridge University team-mate Jonny Dixon added: “As a tighthead prop I’ve probably hit a Rhino scrum machine 5,000 times so it’s great to see they make kit that’s just as good.”

Former Oxford Blue and Rhino CEO Reg Clark, commented: “Even as a former Oxford Blue, I have to admit Cambridge are looking good in their new Rhino kit. We’ve kitted out some of the most famous sides in world rugby including the Barbarians, Scarlets, Edinburgh and Northampton Saints, so Cambridge University and Oxford University are in good company.

“We’re really proud to be involved and it’s great to follow up our success with the 2017 British & Irish Lions earlier this year with another big milestone in rugby – providing the teamwear for both sides of The Varsity Match, not to mention the matchday ball and training equipment.”
