  • 12 Feb 2010, RHINO ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH RUGGERBUGS

ruggerbugs logoRhino Rugby has announced a tie up with Ruggerbugs, an exciting and fun pre-school development programme based around non-contact rugby for children aged 18 months to 5 years.

Rhino is a great believer in low key use of rugby structures, balls and other equipment to promote and instil a fun and positive attitude to sport and fitness in pre-school children and encourage them to participate in regular exercise. Ruggerbugs founder Andy Peasey comments: “we believe Ruggerbugs has an exciting future and are delighted to be linking up with one of the leading rugby brands as we expand our operations throughout the UK”.

Ruggerbugs operates on the basis of dealing with individual clubs and schools – their programmes, typically on a Saturday or Sunday morning, can utilise existing facilities, even a relatively small clubhouse area. For clubs it is another offering for existing and potential members, reaching out into the community and providing further income streams. The programmes are all based on joint participation of the parent with the child at the sessions. Rhino Director Peter Urey comments: “we are delighted to support this positive initiative and programme and believe that working with Ruggerbugs will strengthen our existing ties with clubs and schools”.

  • 9 Feb 2010, RHINO AT INVICTUS PREMIERE IN LONDON

    Invictus

Rhino received a call over a year ago from Warner Brothers in Los Angeles asking for permission to reproduce the company's logo when filming a 'forthcoming movie about the 1995 Rugby World Cup'. Rhino was Official Supplier of scrummaging machines and contact equipment to that tournament and in particular supplied the pitch kits for the famous final at Ellis Park. We had no reason to refuse, and watched with interest as details of the exact nature of the film became public - its focus on Nelson Madela's role in supporting the Springboks in that tournament , the role of the South African victory in the process of nation building and its naming - 'Invictus'.

We were thrilled to be involved no matter how tangentially in this project, and even more so when we received invitations for our staff to attend the UK Premiere of Invictus at the Odeon Leicester Square on Sunday 31st January. Walking down the red carpet at the same time as Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon and listening to their comments on the making of the film beforehand was a real privilege.

As for the movie - it's a 'must see' and not only for all rugby fans!
