Posted on April 30, 2012 by admin

Rhino were delighted to accept an invitation to exhibit our products alongside brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma at the Sports Direct annual convention in Newcastle last week.

In addition Rhino shareholder Martin Johnson, who led an MBI of the business together with CEO Reg Clark in late 2006, joined Sir Geoff Hurst, Joe Calzaghe, James Cracknell and other prominent brand ambassadors in attending the event, and meeting Sports Direct staff who had travelled from all over the UK to be there.

On a day of intense activity at the Sports Direct Arena, home of Newcastle United FC, including a football tournament on the hallowed turf, the 12 Sports Direct staff with the highest scores on the Rhino Collision King challenge each won a Rhino British & Irish Lions 2009 South Africa Tour vintage leather ball.

Jonathan Sexton of Leinster has hit the remarkable figure of a 90% success rate in the RaboDirect PRO12 Rhino Golden Boot goalkicking league table. A leader for most of the season, Sexton was briefly overtaken by a Ronan O’Gara mid season hot streak, but has now regained the lead with one round to go on May 4th and 5th before the destination of the Award is decided.

The Rhino Golden Boot will be presented by MD Anthony Locke at the RabdoDirect PRO12 Awards in Cardiff on May 6th. Ronan O’Gara is currently second in the table on 83.33% and Aironi’s Luciano Orquera has stormed through the field to occupy third place with 82.50% just ahead of Glasgow’s Duncan Weir on 82.43%. Orquera’s rise was assisted by a PRO12 record setting 9 out of 9 penalties in the derby game with Treviso before Christmas, and Weir’s kick to convert Stuart Hogg’s last minute try against Munster the weekend before last gained a bonus point which may well be critical in taking the Warriors into the play offs.
